Vera Volchansky, described as conductor of “impeccable taste,” has performed in Europe, Asia, Mexico and United States. Her most notable performances include a sold-out concert with the Grammy- winning organist Paul Jacobs, performing for audience of 2,000 at Morelia International Organ Festival (Mexico), and her production of the narrated Soldier’s Tale. She was the first woman invited to conduct Karaganda Symphony in Kazakhstan, and she was previously named a Conducting Fellow with the Aspen Music Festival. As a winner of Fulbright Award, she studied at St. Petersburg Conservatory.

 

Ms. Volchansky holds in Masters Degree in conducting from Eastman School of Music. Her study on violin, began at age of five in Volgograd, and continued after she immigrated as a child from USSR.  At 14, she was accepted to the talented program (California State University), but her rapid development as a solo violinist was terminated by carpal tunnel syndrome. Her most memorable performance was Bach’s Double Concerto, which she played with her father at Steinman Hall (Lancaster, Pennsylvania). Her mentors included David Zinman, Victor Yampolsky, Paavo Järvi, Martin Sieghart and Petr Gribanov. As a conductor, Ms. Volchansky strives to inspire and bring people together through depth of classical music.
