The Minsk String Quartet

The Minsk String Quartet was founded in 1988 by graduates of the Belarusian Academy of Music, and in 2002 it was awarded the status of the quartet of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society.  The artists of the Minsk String Quartet are laureates of the international chamber music competitions.  The Quartet’s extensive repertoire includes works by composers from different eras and styles. Music by Belarusian composers takes a special place in the repertoire from the quartet.  Over its long history the quartet has participated in many international festivals, participated in the Belarusian Culture Festival Dys, it has successfully performed several times at governmental events to strengthen the developing ties between the countries, including the Belarusian-European Economic Forum in Luxembourg, as well as at the reception of the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders in the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the People’s republic of China.  The Quartet has actively been performing on tours both in the cities of Belarus and abroad.  The Minsk String Quartet successfully cooperates with wonderful musicians: Y.U. Gildyuk, D. Titov, S. Stepchenko (Moscow), with the State Chamber Choir, with whom the Quartet played in the theatrical and musical performance “Yakub Kolas Square,” dedicated to the 135th anniversary of Yakub Kolas (composer and director – Larisa Simakovich).  The Minsk String Quartet is always open to cooperating with various creative groups and bright personalities.  The Quartet’s concerts are held with great success and enjoy popularity.  Each concert is a new page in the life of the quartet.  It is a new reflection on the history of the development of chamber music.  The high professional level of the musicians, their youth and enthusiasm are the key to success of the ensemble.
